Executive Health Screening Package - result?
In 31 oct 2006, I took the Executive Health Screening Package. Which means they will do some testing on my urine sample, blood sample. And as usual, I got the result as having being obese.. as well as high in cholestrol.
But I was a bit taken back when I saw that I have this slight elavated in hypochromic normocytic red blood cell and at the same time having this inflammation of liver.
I have to go for another blood test in 3months time. If still both "things" exist, I have to go for a liver scan.
But at least Alhamdulilah, I'm free from any cancers (which I thot I might have colon cancer). Alhamdulilah..
Ehem.. taken from the Wikipedia..
Hypochromic anemia is a form of anemia characterized by a disproportionate reduction of red cell hemoglobin in proportion to the volume of the erythrocyte and an increased area of central pallor in the red cells.
Normocytic anaemia is when the overal Hb levels are decreased, but the red blood cell size (MCV) remains normal. Causes include:
Ø Acute blood loss
Ø Anemia of chronic disease
Ø Aplastic anemia (bone marrow failure)
Anemia meaning "without blood", refers to a deficiency of red blood cells (RBCs) and/or hemoglobin. This results in a reduced ability of blood to transfer oxygen to the tissues, causing hypoxia; since all human cells depend on oxygen for survival, varying degrees of anemia can have a wide range of clinical consequences. Hemoglobin (the oxygen-carrying protein in the red blood cells) has to be present to ensure adequate oxygenation of all body tissues and organs.
Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is fatty inflammation of the liver when this is not due to excessive alcohol use. It is related to insulin resistance and the metabolic syndrome, and may respond to treatments originally developed for other insulin resistant states (e.g. diabetes mellitus type 2), such as weight loss, metformin and thiazolidinediones. Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is the most extreme form of NAFLD, which is regarded as a major cause of cryptogenic cirrhosis of the liver.
